Particularly popular with school groups and families, Room 69 allows you to explore the lives of ancient Mediterranean peoples through objects used in everyday life.
These range from humble tools and personal items to artefacts used in rituals such as religious worship, weddings and funerals. The objects are grouped by theme such as gender, childhood, death, sport, music, trade, war, artisanship and many more, subjects that still speak directly to us today.
The displays also introduce you to the images of the gods and goddess of the ancient Mediterranean and to the great stories of classical mythology, including the legends of Herakles and the Trojan War.
